Title: HF lift sale
Post by: SoCal250 on October 14, 2024, 12:56:01 PM
If anyone is thinking about a new lift, the Harbor Freight unit is on sale now.
$100 off, which is the lowest price I've seen in quite a while.

Most replace the crappy wheel clamp with a better wheel vise or chock. I also added additional tie-down eyelets.

Honestly, it's big, a bit too high up and rickety. It needs reinforcement to stop from buckling if a bike falls over.

I'd recommend a better lift, but at the end of the day it does work.

I have that exact one. I wouldn't put an 800 pound Harley on its but perfect for an RD or similar.

+1 on the wheel vice
https://www.harborfreight.com/motorcycle-wheel-vise-accessory-57775.html

Put one on my home made fixed height work platform before I picked up a HF lift this summer off craig's list, and put the vice on it. I don't find it rickety at all. It has screw down out riggers to stabilize it and you can move it around with the bike on it when you lower it down all the way.

Seems ok, but will install a wheel chock instead of clamp.

If you use a real wheel vise you must strap the bike down. I meant it's rickety in the sense that if a bike leans the lift will bend and the bike will fall over.

Happened to me.

I love my HF lift. I bolted one of thier wheel chocks on it in lieu of the shit clamp they come with and it works well for my two strokes but I have to have help if I put my Road King up on it. I can get it on there but I can't get it back out of the chock. I saved the wheel vise accessory link. I might have to buy one..

If you bolt or clamp 4" x 24" x 1/2" plywood boards to each side of the wheel clamp it works significantly better.  It just needs a way to clamp across the rim/tire front to back on both sides.
