Title: VIN Number
Post by: Longbow62 on October 21, 2024, 10:22:30 PM
So is the VIN stamped into the side of the neck stem. The actual label with all the info with manufacture date, weight of bike, etc. has part of it worn away. You can see the Vehicle ID and the last six numbers of the printed sticker match what is stamped into the frame. As in 1A1-352XXX.

As Mark said Yamaha numbers match on frame & engine. The stem has a the model decal with manufacturer info, production date, government certification, vehicle weight, and wheel/tire info. Right next to it the frame number is stamped vertically into the head tube.
The number you posted is for a '78 RD400E

Ed Toomey Designs made me a new sticker decal for the serial number that looks exactly like the original.
