Spoiler Alert!
Gear oil wins!
I've seen this, as well as project farm's video on the matter. It's pretty interesting to see the options out there.
Ha,ha yeah I saw that video too. It was kinda hard for me to watch the whole thing so I skipped most of it too the end. What a character that young guy making the video is. I got the idea to make a home brew for chain lube from folks on bicycle forums and it works great with the motorcycle chains as well. Kinda forget the ratio but I would use something like three parts of whatever clean motor oil I had around to one part mineral spirits as a carrier. Mix it all up in this little squeeze bottle that was formerly a Park Tool Chain Lube product for bicycles. Always does the job penetrates and pennies on the dollar but it does leave a mess that you need to follow up with a rag and more spirits wiping excess. Not too bad a mess just comes with the territory I think. Really though I don't ride long distances and only ride when it's dry out and store the bikes indoors so it seems my bike chains never really need much lubing.
