traded in the XR150L for something a bit snottier. air/oil cooled AND carbureted. :cheerleader:

 Dang new and shiny, I want one. :bacon: I noticed its about 100lb lighter than the Kawi version, ok so how long before the wrenches hit the new bike? :whoop: :whoop:
had carb kicked over right after i took those pics. factory lean carb setting on pilot: fixed (turned fuel screw out like an extra turn ish), pair valve removed, (on front of frame, that silver contraption on the down tube), plate welded up @ cyl. and idle set to spec (1500 rpm) was at 1200. Pulled warning sticker off tail. found accessory plug behind fairing, and rotated throttle cables 180 down as they were blocking the idiot lights. Shorter side stand on way, to lower bike (factory setting option). Make no doubt.. i've pulled out the angle grinder on new bikes in less miles.
is that an Evap canister hung on the rear left side above passenger footpeg? Do they have smog requirements on cycles in your state?
Here's my Enduro, 2022 Beta 300 X-Trainer, bought new Feb 2022. I can street legal it by simply adding a mirror and filling out a form at DMV.

no that's federally mandated on highway use bikes. we don't even have safety inspections here :whoop: . Ive bene trying to pry a 300 beta off a local here for a few years, its road titled as well. But they weren't brought in (federally) as highway use vehicles. Yes its an evap can. the 150 had one as well. I dont mind that, just a drain filter for the carb and tank overflow.
apologies for hijacking your thread with Beta stuff. Congrats on the new bike. New bike days are the best
Here in sw CO we have loose regulations for most stuff, we don't even have to smog or safety check vehicles either. My Beta comes standard with brake light, horn, hi/low beam headlight and wiring for turn signals, etc. and DOT tires. I was told all I need is that mirror. Probably add the plate next Spring...
nah man I love betas. I've said many time 'I could plate my cat here'
Very nice!!! I looked at the DR650 a few months ago. Of the big 'thumpers' from Japan, it is my favorite. Enough of a following to have a great aftermarket supply of add-ons and upgrades.
true, that was a big consideration, the legacy and support. I added the factory rack and skid plate as well. the thing about it that surprised me.. is how flexible it is in use. it's OK on the highway as well. I've hit 100 on it indicated, no issues tbh and dead stock. even the stock exhaust sounds pretty good so I'll leave it. (famous last words). even my old ktm tail bag matches. :whoop:

finally got the lowering sidestand for it, so went thru the factory lowering procedure. This was a considering factor in purchase. basically, take shock out, loosen preload to get spring loose, flip lower collar to limit overall travel about 1" so it doesn't hit rear fender under FULL compression(which i'll probably never hit), push forks though (they want the internal spacer on the forks flipped but this does the same thing), and move shock lower mount to upper hole. all factory considered items. MUCH better especially w a 30" inseam. dropped seat about 1.6" measuring. Took it out yesterday and its about perfect now. :cheerleader:
(the decal was NOT installed. lol)
Nice. Great forward thinking by Suzuki on that  I also share the 30" inseam limitation and was a major reason I swapped my old 2003 KDX220R for the newer Beta. When purchased new the KDX was fine for my strictly off-road purposes, but over time it seemed harder and harder to swing a leg over it- eventually leading to swapping a lowering link and pushing up fork tubes. Had to lose the rear fender mounted tool bag too. Still kept catching my boot toe on the fender 1/2 the time and it was just plain dangerous in my 60's and not confidence inspiring when riding technical stuff. After lots of research, Beta ended up being the perfect solution to my dilemma.
took the Dr on its first 'lomg' trip last week up to blowing rock, wife drove I rode. have to say, did extremely well on the highway and 2 up on the parkway. 105 ish miles each way and another 300 or so up there. very happy with it.
Sweet
