What a bike! wanted a bike for 2 up riding. Looked at the Concours14 and the Goldwing F6b and the FJR. Goldwing a bit underpowered and the concours was a little rough around the edges. Found this '17 FJR with 10k miles in pristine condition. Yamaha FTW!
abs/traction control
Slipper assist clutch
LED headlights and 6 adaptive lights that activate sequentially based on lean angle to "see through the turn" - cool but more hype than substance
6 speed (they were 5 speeds forever) Also an automatic version that was pretty cool but went for the 6 speed.
Sport / touring mode and touring mode is actually useable for everyday driving, sport mode is sport bike mode and you get the full snarly JFR experience.
146 hp
Unified braking - meh, but used to it from the big scooter, never had a front wheel lock up under any braking so have grown more confident with it.
full digital control of F/R dampening and preload or 3 pre-set levels of hard/soft
throttle by wire and car like cruise control
Heated grips
Digital gear indicator
Electronically adjustable windshield
Dash is right out of the bat cycle but easy to read and easy to use interface
it's deceptively fast due to its size and that motor
Cult like following akin to our RD's but bigger. My introductory post on the FJR page got a couple hundred likes and dozens of comments.
This may be my last bike, and if it is I'm fine with that, this thing is awesome and I'm still in the "go to garage to stare at it stage".
