Title: Santa kawi
Post by: RustyRD on December 19, 2024, 08:18:48 PM
I caved in to the pressure from seeing new goodies you guys have picked up. I ended up with a 2025 KLX300, just brought home this evening in the bed of the truck. I am anxious to take for a ride. just a quick spin around the yard for now.

Congrats on the new bike! I recently stumbled onto this Honda SCL500 Scrambler and am seriously considering buying 1 as I have the dirt bikes covered and going to be awhile before I finish building 1 of my RDs I just rescued from 20-year deep storage.

That should be a fun ride. I had a friend years ago that bought a Honda Ascot 500 and loved it.

that's what I'm thinking. That Honda promotional brochure is saying perfect for "neighborhood exploration" lol. I'm lacking a reliable street legal bike I can jump on and buzz around anytime I get the urge- and have a lot of interesting areas within 20 miles in my rural area. This motor has been around forever and the bike is based on the Rebel and Shadow with a completely redesigned rear subframe to improve rider triangle away from Cruiser config and give upright riding position  :vroom:

Apologies for hijacking your thread  :jacked:

given the option, i would recommend the z650rs. not much more and IMHO a way better performer/looker having seen both in person. the scrambler in real life looks sort of cartoonish and the muffler is a fucking abomination. but.. thats just my 0.02.

HP numbers: scl - 46hp z650rs: 67.

point taken and thanks for the link. SCL gas tank and exhaust def look like afterthoughts slapped on there! I owned a Ford Maverick- had all kinds of ugly to get used to on that thing! Kawi & Honda seat height, weight and upright riding position are comparable. Kawi $2k more and not sure I need the extra power for light forest fire roading I have all around me here... hmmmm

you dont have to use it, but if you need it, there it is.  I personally have a HUGE issue with 'scramblers' with low pipes.

this Honda CL77 is the inspiration for the new retro scrambler. I grew up riding dirt bikes starting late 1960s that had less suspension that the 5.7" here and vast majority had low expansion chambers...

It is always good to have a push button bike to get on and go

100%. I always have at least 1. currently have 3 (dr650/cb1100/ct125) but 1 is almost essential.

looking for some input on EHS racing tuner , looks like they are working with Barker exhaust , and the tuner looks like the EJK unit and I thought it was saw mention somewhere about it being from Dobeck. Anyone have experience with EHS racing tuner? I did see a lengthy video from EHS racing, looking to get some more info before committing money to them.
