Title: RD vs YDS/R5 cylinders
Post by: soonerbillz on January 07, 2025, 12:12:36 PM
On the FB a fellow wrote the following as a response to a question.
Is there any truth here and what about comparison to YDS/R5 ?

"AB barrels won't work with CD downpipes as the position and angle of the exhaust port is different. You will need the correct AB downpipes but they will fit into 1A0 silencers. The CD head is wider with an extra fin so will overhang the AB barrel by about 10mm so will look wrong. You'll need the heads as well, the A (361) head has a short reach plug and rectangular slots under the bottom face around the combustion chamber and is the less desirable item. The later UK/EU B (522) head is way more desirable as it was strengthened, didn't have the holes and has a long reach plug. The A head was prone to cracking at the inside fin near the bolt holes."

Scott,

He is referring solely about UK/EU parts that won't apply to us. He is correct that the early heads were prone to cracking but only when modified.
