Title: Gas Tank Repair
Post by: 38special on July 14, 2025, 03:45:40 PM
My '75 RD has developed leaks at both front tank mounts.

Looking for advice on any DIY repairs that don't involve welding, or do I just take it to a competent welder and be done with it?

I've repaired holes, and I mean HOLES  and seam issues like that with caswell. can't beat it and I've tried everything

they also come up fairly often on eBay. You didn't mention overall condition of your current tank, but there's some needing work right now like these 2 currently...

there's some from different years in better shape that could be repainted, etc. if you don't mind having some work done to get result you want.

I have sealed quite a few tanks with small leaks with POR 15 Tank Sealer.

ive never heard of tankcure, but it seems to be a similar 2 part epoxy like caswell. I'll never use any of the non 2 part stuff again, ever. by comparison its far inferior. Im ot saying ot wont.. work.. just a huge pain in the ass, takes forever, and they do lift over time, usually.
