Title: RD125 Feedback
Post by: 38special on August 27, 2025, 01:52:36 PM
There's a nice '75 RD125 for sale locally that I can't get out of my head.  How practical is this bike for a regular rider for putting around town and backroad cruising at 55-60 mph.  Can it keep up with traffic?

I have one. It's been apart for some time. I did get a summer out of it.

I'd say no it's not practical in that context. I don't think it's good for 50-60 mph average speeds. The brakes aren't great and it's high strung.

It's a cool little motor. My smallest hone just barely fits. A lot of fun and great around town. Not sure I'd want to daily it in any context.

My CS5 200 will do 65 comfortably and will go another 15 mph but I do not like to keep in those higher RPMs for very long.Yes and it still suffers a bit on the roads power wise but the RD 250 makes up for it just fine, I can even put my wife on the back with a combined weight of 300 lbs. me being 185
