One of my riding buddies just picked up this '86 Honda NS400R locally -

A bit rough around the edges, and needs a few parts, but runs ok.

Looks good in the pics
Guessing a Canadian model by the number of digits in serial number.

Had a chance to ride my buddy's NS400R the other day.  Did about a 25 mi loop.

I would say it's not running quite right, and it was overheating by the time we got back.

Compared to my TZR250, it's much more of a street bike.  The bars and seat are higher, and it feels much more stable.

The power delivery was kinda odd.  It doesn't run well at all below 6000, and at one point on flat ground I was about 5000 and needed to downshift to maintain speed.  It's geared really tall, way taller than the TZR, and it doesn't do well with it.  I was cruising almost 75 mph at one point, probably around 6000, and wasn't in top gear.

It does run well after 7000, and pulls like crazy after 8000 to redline.

He's looking into the issues, but it appears the radiator may be plugged.

He has gone through the carbs, and the jetting is correct.
