Post by: 2t Fan on August 10, 2026, 11:57:21 PM
Since India is now adding 20% ethanol in petrol,do we have any manufacturer who makes ethanol resistant Viton, PTFE. FVMQ, FFKM oil seal, gaskets etc for our vintage motorcycles

In NY you can get 91 and 93 ethanol free all over the place, but they hit up another 75-95 cents a gallon over 87  octane.

I was an Evinrude outboard mechanic when the ethanol was introduced. It destroyed all of our black rubber parts that it came in contact with.

Evinrude's answer; brown Viton. I never has any problems with the brown Viton in ethanol.

any thoughts on jetting changes when using Ethanol added gas vs. Ethanol Free? My only choices here in CO are 85 octane "regular" Ethanol free or 91 octane premium Ethanol free.

Some years ago I bought a couple of carb gasket/o-ring kits for my 1988 FZR400 from this company in Thailand. The gaskets & o-rings were made of Viton. I don't see any older Yamaha 2-strokes listed but might be worth contacting them. They were very responsive and kits were shipped quickly.

Thanks, will contact them

What I do is adding STA BIL additive and use bigger jets. Ethanol free 100 octane fuel is available but only major cities
