that's not uncommon at all, especially if you use cheapest shipping option. I've had them go back and forth across the country multiple times only to arrive where they started (at least according to their tracking). I was told it has to do with weather and if you use Ground Service. Mine have to go through a main distribution center in Albuquerque NM (5 hours away from origination), and it can bounce back and forth as they have origination/acceptance division and clearance/distribution division, and each has its own ZIP code. If a truck they wanted to put yours on is delayed for whatever reason they let it sit waiting for another truck- and then you can get bumped in favor of Priority Mail on hand that was backed up. It's a screwy system but it is what it is...
there are definitely certain hubs.. if it hits them its going to probably take the scenic route
