Title: Frame Shipping
Post by: RDFL on September 03, 2019, 02:32:52 PM
Anyone recently shipped or had shipped to RD400 or similar frame via Fedex? Did it make it ok I'm wary of shipping anything large anymore.

i have, wrap it in shrink wrap and throw a label on the frame tube.

I wont use fedex though. those guys suck around here. use the postal service if you can.

I've heard of shipping through Fastenal.

I have used U-Ship for bikes & vehicles a couple of times. That worked out fairly well.

I shipped an RZ frame from California to Florida using UPS. Had no problems. Just taped cardboard over anything sticking out.

I shipped a bare RD 400 frame by UPS.  I attached a strong corrugated panel across the frame behind the head stock with the label stuck to it.  Also put a "packing list" envelope with the same info wrapped around a frame tube.  Worked like a champ.  I delivered the frame to a real UPS shipping location not a "retail" store.  Cheaper and the people are better trained.  A 30 mile drive for me, but worth it.  (You can arrange for a pick up but timing is iffy where I live.)

BTW, I agree FedEx sucks.  Big time.  We get meds shipped in and have had to specify that they are not to be the carrier.
