Has anyone got a line on a small batch chromer? I am thinking about redoing my fenders, chain pulls, brake hardware, etc.
Ideas on cost?
Thanks
Ed
I was quoted $300 for a set of fork tubes. I ended up buying new ones.
Hi there, I had 2 fenders,1chain-guard,1 headlight bezel done in San Antonio Tx,approx 1000.00$,there are not many chrome shops left ,I believe because of EPA-regs,Preben54
Holy hell I can probably find NOS for $1000.
I see a place near me online, when I'm ready I'll report back findings....
I was just going to inquire also about this. 1000? wow. about 2x what I was hoping to pay.
I've heard about shipping parts to Mexico for chrome plating. I've never tried using any of them but it might be worth looking into.
I had a bunch of parts replated recently by Quality Plating in Sterling, IL (815) 626 5223. Timing was fine, plating was good. The parts were not "show chromed" to perfection - more like OEM parts quality, which was perfect for this project.
I had 2 air box end caps, a chainguard, kickstart lever and pivot, gas cap lid a bunch of bolts plated for less than 400 bucks.
http://www.qualitychromeplating.com/kawasaki.php for indicative prices. They were really easy to deal with.
Chrome isn't going to be cheap no matter what. The disposal costs for chemicals is outrageous. I've been using Graves Plating (https://gravesplating.com/#home) in Alabama since the '80s and never a bad result.
I paid $500 for all of my hardware on my rz350 to be plated. And that was me cleaning blasting and having everything clean for them.
Well here it is....
Front and rear fender, including taking minor dents out of the rear. 4 Joe Spooner fender extension brackets. 1 Joe Spooner laser cut brake stay. $400 total. I'm in....

Sweet! prices are fair. I am going to contact them and send some stuff off. Perfect timing.
Thank you!
Try getting stock pipes re-chromed....... $$$$

As posted in my Projects thread, I got the first batch back. The guy was happy to hear that the collective is interested in his work and he will gladly do mail-order.
