Title: SPA day with Mr. Supertune.
Post by: paul1478 on July 19, 2020, 01:27:33 PM
After having my bike with a painter for 3 months I got sick of him and removed it from him and took to a local shop by me. They finished it in a few weeks and did, I think a good job.
First ride a managed to melt my piston. So I sent the whole back to Chuck for an autopsy and get repaired.
the timing moved by several degrees for some unknown reason and that was that.
Chuck bored it got new forged pistons etc.
unknown to me Chuck but the bike through a nice SPA day (or days) and did several upgrades that I have wanted to have done.
My rear fender was a MESS bent, dented and the guy I got it from used a wire wheel to try and remove the rust. Chuck removed about a inch, welded it back together and had it painted. Addend LED lights.
Changed the headlight bucket for a chrome one and put LED light in, and same turn signals.
also added fiberglass front fender and fork brace.

Powder coated side covers, changed throttle to domino dual pull throttle assembly, new rear disk, drilled and GP style mount for caliper.
and the biggest upgrade of them all new blue dot caliper and massive rotor!
Quite a pleasant surprise when he pulled up to my house Friday morning.
We rode around 300 miles and had a great time, great food, great friends and riding 2 strokes.  It does not get much better that that.

300 miles is a good ride on these old 2 strokes. Are you guys playing in FL?

It was a great time. I always like hanging out with Chuck. I always learn something. We also rode to Columbus GA to see "rustyrd" and his 350 (Very cool and great guy) and hand some BBQ.
I have no fabricator skills and am no mechanic. Chuck transformed this bike for me like I never could have.
Glad I met him.

Hello Paul, Chuck,
I really like that front fender and fork brace.
If that set-up works on '75 RD350 as well, I will likely try it.
Could either of you, or anybody else that knows, add the details of what was used here (brand/price)?  This will definitely be good option for folks needing fender solutions.
>>Thanks

The fender is from a FL guy Greek who makes fiberglass parts. Don't recall the name but others on this form do.
Breaks hell yea. Rode Friday Saturday and Sunday. Would be out today but work calls.

Bike never ran better. Besides all the upgrades he did a little jet tweak. Shocking what such a tiny adjustment can make.

Looking forward to the gap for a week of riding and Good times.

Is it Sakis who produced the fender?

I live in Newnan. Just south of Atlanta.
Yes for sure. We will let you know.
Try and make the gap this year. Seems there will be plenty of room this year.
I plan on being there all week.

You guys were about 30 minutes from me.  I'm in Opelika, AL right now during the Covid-19 pandemic where I've been working remotely on our tree farm since March.
