Title: 3d printed emblems for the t500
Post by: m in sc on July 21, 2020, 04:30:16 PM
few of you have seen bits of this here and there. we just got a 3d systems sla printer at work, so of course i'm going to do this stuff. unfortunately, the intake idea wont work unless i make a mold and cast it in rubber, which i may eventually do.

in the meantime, made this. the build tray is pretty small, but for what we do at work its suitable. but its also why i split the base. just -barely- didn't fit at an angle.

base made from flexible media, where the numbers are slightly less flexible (hybrid of model grey with flexible black thrown in, experimenting). they came out pretty good i think.

I do have stock ones, but i like mine, for now. the last ones i had done were too thick, an over sight on my behalf.

not yet glued but set together:

glued and painted.

numbers hot out of the curing box

sanded and painted. had to bevel the edhes in a bot where they locked in, fit was a bit tight.

glued and clamped

clearcoated and mounted:

Thanks, It's being held on with 3M tape. Had a hard time taking off the original ones, so I printed a thinner version of it. As for the file, I would need to find it. It's been awhile since I've touch them. Mark, I am looking at doing the fancy cursive SUZUKI ones off of the Cobra but can't seem to get any "great" images with the proper lighting and the dimensions to make them. You think you can hook me up to design?

Discovered my side panel badge fell off. Decided to make my own. Will try to 3D print it this weekend.
