Title: Vcyclenut ECU flash
Post by: IR8D8R on January 13, 2021, 09:53:07 AM
Anybody have experience with Vcyclenut ECU flash?

https://www.vcyclenut.com/.

After installing an Akrapovic exhaust on my XSR900 I am getting a ton of popping and backfires without the cat. Especially bad with the cold start active. It mostly goes away when the engine is warmed up. It has been suggested elsewhere that this can be mitigated by flashing the ECU with a new tune.

There would seem to be other benefits available as well as optional add-ons. Now would be a good time to have an idle bike while the roads are icy. Other options include dyno tuning and things like Power Commander V.

You might also look into Ivan's Performance.  I am considering his ecu flash for my Stratoliner.

Thanks guys. Ivan is $100 more than the Vcyclenut's second tier with fewer features. Hard to know what is "better". The full nut includes 2-way quickshifter and some extra software tools for $777. The cheapest will solve the problems for $200.

From consuming info on the subject my popping problem seems to be an AIS with no cat. Really I had no idea motorcycles even had air injection "smog pumps". Technically I guess it is a valve not a pump but same principle... The ECU flash can disable it.

Most of the issues I have had with this bike related to irregular and uneven throttle response are explained. "Fuel cut" is one. Seems that the ECU flash is a cure-all in some ways. ...which makes me slightly suspicious because: panacea. Maybe it is that simple?

my cb1100 has a PAIR valve as well, i disabled it an swapped out the exhaust, no popping. might be that simple.

Yes you can get block-off plates and caps for the other models with the 3cyl. But apparently on the XSR you can disable/enable the valve at the ECU. I don't know if this compares to taking the belt off the air pump of a 70's Chevy or not... You know how that approach worked out.

From one perspective it is preferable to do this at the ECU over mechanical intervention. Unless it will damage something or exhaust gas can back up and kill the valve.

if there's a vacuum line that controls the valve to open up, put a small bearing in it as a plug and done. disables it. both the concourses have, have the same setup as well

yup. seems to be similar to do. zero cost. just plug the inlet pipe.
