Wow that is big news if it develops as they say. I was really bummed when I lost my BeIN Sports channel but now it seems that we should all have access to MotoGP again. I have since subscribed to VideoPass so not really a big issue any more, but I'll cancel once they have regular race coverage and live broadcasts.

I just hope that NBC with their NASCAR-lean doesn't eff-up the coverage and make it too goofy. Hopefully they use the international feed broadcasters, Steve Day and Mike Birt

Ill be curious as to what NBC does with the video pass they mention, it would be nice to cancel my $175 subscription to MotoGP.com but I have a feeling we will need to keep both to start.

The Thai GP on Mar 22 was postponed this morning. The season is off the a bad start
https://motorsports.nbcsports.com/2020/03/02/motogp-postpones-thailand-grand-prix-because-of-coronavirus-concern/

Wow, never thought that COTA would be Round 1!
"As things stand, MotoGP will now hold its first race of the year in Texas on April 3-5 but that is also seen as being in major doubt, as is the following round in Argentina. Rumours persist that the 2020 MotoGP season might not begin until the opening European round at Jerez in May... or beyond."

The Austin event has been postponed until the end of the season.Yesterday the City of Austin announced a ban on large gatherings.

https://www.motogp.com/en/news/2020/03/10/red-bull-grand-prix-of-the-americas-rescheduled-for-november/327852

Announcement from COTA:
MotoGP Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas Postponed until November 13-15, 2020
With the disruption in international flights serving areas that are home to many teams, fans, freight and competitors, the MotoGP Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas has been postponed until November 15, 2020.

We are glad that there are no cases of the virus in Austin and recognize that the risks of getting sick are very low, however, an international event of this sort presents logistics concerns, travel commitments, and significant advance planning.

All tickets purchased will be valid for the November event. While we greatly appreciate the ongoing support and patronage of the fans, we recognize that some ticket holders may need a refund. COTA will honor any such request if received by July 1, 2020.

We'll be lucky to be racing by June. F1 on the other hand seems to be moving forward with Australia. Of course China is cancelled and Bahrain will run without spectators. Meanwhile, the Pirates will play their first game without spectators, of course nobody shows up anyways so the difference is nil.

No surprise, that they postponed the Spanish GP. It seems they are just delaying the inevitable (or refusing to face reality) that the season will be scrapped.  The next five rounds are all in Europe, predominately in countries that were hit hard by COVID

Sounds like Rossi will be back for 2021. But it was bound to happen with a dwindling chance of any races for the 2020 season. He wouldn't want to retire like this. He's already been promised a factory-spec M1, but he will no longer have his seat on the factory team.

Rossi is a hero of mine. I have always loved his style.

It's just a shame that tenth championship now seems out of reach.

I felt this bad news was coming. The following is an update from COTA I received this morning:

"MotoGP Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas Update
Big news! The fastest bikes in the world will return next year for an even bigger and better MotoGP Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas on April 16-18, 2021! This year's event on November 13-15, 2020 has been canceled.

Your purchase will be automatically rolled over to the 2021 event. New tickets will be loaded into your account, and you'll receive a limited-edition commemorative MotoGP poster at the event. These posters will not be for sale at any other point in time.

While we greatly appreciate the ongoing support and patronage as fans, we recognize that some ticket holders may need a refund. If you wish to receive one, please contact us before October 1, 2020. Please allow up to 30 days for your refund to be issued.

Stay well, and we hope to be racing again soon!"

What's with the commentators banging on Rossi today? He was nicely on pace, Quartaroro being the exception. Sure Rossi was a bit squirrelly early on, but once he found the rhythm he was solid. Rossi put on a master class, so late on the brakes, precision late apexes time and time again. Vinales found himself lucky to learn from Rossi, and it managed him the better at the flag. It just proves what grit and experience actually means. Fabio certainly has loads of potential, and I look forward to watching him.

Ducati has really found something with that bike. It gets out of the corner with so much squat, it hardly ever wheelies despite what is an ultimate power advantage. It's really something. They need a top rider and they are bound for a championship.

I'm worried about Yamaha as the season goes on. The top speed deficit is going to be a killer on the faster tracks. They were down 8-10kph to the Ducs and Hondas at Jerez which has a very short straight.

And with a 5-engine limit their biggest challenge for the season is not going to be the other riders but the rules. They are likely to exhaust their engine allotment before the season is over. There were rumors that Maverick had used 2 already. And with a mystery engine failure that has affected riders during the race in successive races they have issues.

A lot of interesting action in the first 2 weeks of the restart. Today's Moto3 race had a podium injury. When has that ever happened?  And in Moto2 the 2nd and 3rd place finishers, who are teammates, crashed into each other on the cool down lap while trying to celebrate. How often does that happen?
