Thanks again for all the help.  I am going to drop mine down also.  Hopefully this bike will finally be squared away and I can start my next RD build: RD 400 frame, r5 motor with an RD 6 speed transmission.  Let the fun begin again.

Thanks I may also drop the pilots down.  Are the 30's with pod filters?  Thanks

Update:
I dropped it to 200 mains. It seems better. Not breaking/loading up. What is everyone opinion with my 37.5 pilot. It still seams pretty rich on the bottom. What are the recommendations for the pilots with the Dave F carb mod for the pilots?

Thanks again!

Turning Wrenches / Jetting question on RD350
September 22, 2025, 11:35:24 AM
I am still trying to figure out what I think is the jetting on my RD.  Sometimes it runs fine but this problem keeps re-appearing.  I initially thought it was fuel flow problem as the fuel lines do not fill once needle valve closes. (changed petcock and needles and seats) I also adjusted air screw and pilot.  I believe that the jetting is close. The bike is all rebuilt with new pistons and seals.

I am trying to figure out which way I need to go on the jetting either leaner or richer on the main jet. (I am thinking richer) The bike breaks up and sounds like its starving for fuel high in the revs. The revs flatten off in 3rd gear.  (my opinion)  The revs pull through in 1st and 2nd.

1975 RD350
Stock VM carbs
Dave F carb mod with correct needles.
240 mains
37.5 pilots  Previously had 40's in it but the still had same problem.

Stock YZ 85 reeds
Banshee reed spacers
Uni pod foam filters oiled with foam air filter oil
expansion chambers
no porting

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Does anyone know if a RD400/LC350 Fuel Petcock Reproduction 4L0-24500-00-00 from Economy Cycle will fit a 1975 RD350 gas tank?

I was away for the weekend.  I still need to check the coil but I will also include the pulser coil on my list of things to check.  Thanks for the advice.

FYI: Flat terminal to ground 0.3 ohm, between the two wires 8K ohm or 8000 ohm.  Response received from HPI.

Turning Wrenches / HPI ignition Coil
May 21, 2025, 04:55:49 PM
Hello again,

I am still having issues with my RD.  When pulling a heavy load while racing while rolling on full throttle it sputters/breaks up.  It does not do this at all during "street riding" or just riding it around.  It also starts every time on the first kick.  As I reported in earlier posts the full lines do not always fill up with fuel and I initially believed it was starving for fuel.  I took apart the carbs and cleaned several times not finding any issues.  Then one day a friend of mine noticed the coil mount I made had broken and the coil was just hanging there. I fixed this and it seemed to run great.  The other day I was racing it again and it did the same thing.  I believe it is jetted correctly as when it is running right it screams and no issues.  This problem seems to come and go as by the end of the day last Saturday it was running better.  Does anyone know how to test and resistance for the HPI ignition coil?  I am starting to think it is an ignition issue, maybe the flywheel moved or there are problems with the CDI.

Thanks again for all the help,

Just an update.  I screwed up and had the pressure plate in the wrong position.  It needed rotated for some reason.  Never had one do that before.  I turned it and it went right on. Thanks for the info though.
