First time I've taken the RZ more than around the block. I did a deep dive on the carbs over winter. Has a K&N tall filter with a 2 into 1. Premix. Unknown brand aftermarket battery less ignition. Unsure what stock yamaha ignition parts are on it. This is an Ex WERA bike, has some port work done with initials on the cylinders. Never been into the motor. Iridium plugs 9's.
Starts kinda hard, needs 1/4 throttle to start (probably cause only left cylinder is starting). Right cylinder only runs above 6k. When revving it's always there and runs like a top. Did a power stand up the on ramp today to the highway. But around town that right cylinder drops if you get below 6. Please give me your thoughts. Not looking for clean the carbs comments. I know I'll probably end up doing it again. I am very well versed in aircooled RD's but have no experience with powervalves.
Stock carbs:
2.0 slide
needle clip is third down from the top
Needle is 5K1
Pilot 25
Main 430
Emulsion 0-8 357
To do: Swap plug leads to see if it follows, see what ignition is on it, maybe see if I can install a battery and see if the powervalves cycle before I start it?
