Turning Wrenches / Re: 1975 T500 Carb Cable Issues

Quote from: m in sc on September 25, 2023, 08:04:47 PMit should go back together. but my guess is you pulled it pretty hard and maybe damaged the splitter junction.

The one i have is a repop like the ebay one. I was able to take it apart and got it back together. The previous owner gave me some parts and i found the original throttle cable which was rusty, but looked like it would work. The ebay repop os a cheap plastic cable, but it does work. All's well that ends well. Thanks for the info!

Turning Wrenches / 1975 T500 Carb Cable Issues
September 25, 2023, 06:03:49 PM
Was pulling my 75 T500 out of storage and the carb slides were stuck. While turning the throttle cable, one of the cables going to the carb came out of the junction case. Has anyone else had this happen? Can the cable be put back together? There is no apparent destruction to the cable ends, but the junction is made out of plastic.

I will take more pix soon. Bike hadn't been started in years, but it started right up after I checked and cleaned the carbs.

Don't remember if those sealing washers are copper, do you know m in sc? Where did you get stat-o-seals? I will look them up.
Mike

Quote from: m in sc on August 09, 2023, 02:31:01 PMmight just be the sealing washers of the check valves TBH. if you don't see an actual leak, that's probably what it is.

as far as the washers go, i replaced all mine on the 72 with stat-o-seals. I also sprayed through all the fitting s(off the bike) with carb cleaner to clean out the check valves and they have been working great for 5 years now.

as far as wat i would replace them with, i would use 1/8" urethane line from parts unlimited, so general m6 banjo fittings, and yamaha marine inline checks where necessary.

r5 banjo fittings will work well and are m6 hole:

if you go that way, they do sell oil line as well.

Turning Wrenches / Just Got a 1974 RD350
August 14, 2023, 05:51:44 PM
Just traded for a low mile, rust free RD350. I have been putting together a parts list and would like help from ya'll where I can get these parts.

- Petcock rebuild kit or can I find a NOS one? I'm wanting to keep it as stock as possible.
- Ordered a new airbox snorkel, but I need the clamp that joins the snorkel to the airbox.  Haven't been able to find it.
- right mirror

- Going to need tires and tubes.
- The tach is very sluggish
- High beam doesn't work. Are these sealed beam?

Thank you guys for any help!

The left cylinder lines have bubbles in them, so they are leaking at the fittings. What kind of line can I use that would stand up to oil and heat?

Turning Wrenches / T-500 Oil Lines

I am a new member, so thanks for the add. I have a 75 Suzuki T500 that the oil lines are leaking. Has anyone found a way to build a new set of lines?
