I am hoping I lucked out.  It is in very good condition so far.  Only one of the barrel nuts acted up removing the top.  BUT the cylinders are being stubborn about coming off.  Been soakin git in pb blaster and letting it sit for a few weeks, tapping it with a rubber mallet every few days.  Will get more serious about it when I am ready to move forward. 

The pistons seem very well seated and the tops are just dirty.  I am hoping that I just need to replace the seals and the crank is ok.  The cylinder walls looked ok but I didnt really get a good look yet.

Anyways, really looking forward to riding it.  Once I start I will get some pics posted and get some opinions about what direction I should take it.

Doing this as a time and enjoyment thing,  I have more free time then money so going to take my time working on it.

I recently got a pretty early r5 350.  I think its a 70's model cause the serial is under 5000 and the exhaust that came with it is seam welded ( Which matters I guess from what I could find.)

I started riding just a few years ago, and missed out on the whole 2 stroke road bike era's.  Found this a days drive away and grabbed it as a project to restore or at least make road legal and ridable and fun.

It is clapped out, but the engine and frame are pretty solid so far.  Looks like someone was going to redo the wires and make it a cafe racer then gave up, sold it to guy I got it from ( or it was that guy)  Lots of cut wires, and missing the panels and seat and rear fender and one carb.  But has most the rest of everything.

I was just going to have fun with it unless I find the parts it missing,  Would like to really restore it, but may be a bit pricey to do it all at once.

Anyways.  Hope to talk ya all's ear off once I get started working on it.  Right now I am just slowly tearing it down and cleaning it till I finish another small project bike for a friend.
