That's a rare thing, nowadays it seems the batteries they sell come already dead on arrival.

That's a heart-wrenching, gut-punch of a story with an awesome finish!

Might need to call him for my horror show GT750.

Really? :umm:

From what I've read there were 2 RD versions 6 speed and a 5 speed
The 5 speed was essentially the same as the other but without the 6th gear. Supposedly that was in line with 17 year olds and less age motorcycle license rules.

My understanding was the sixth gear existed in the 5-speed boxes but was unusable because either the shift drum was blocked from rotating somehow, or the shift fork was impeded. Aircooled RD club talks about it, but their forum won't load for me right now.

Figured I'd remove the symbols to get the tank ready to go to a painter. A quick pry and...

whoops.

Oh well, I'm in it now, so I covered it with copious amounts of paint stripper. We'll see what the body guy says about possibly fixing the missing metal that was filled in with shmoo.

You could always mod that aluminum one to run at whatever duration you want by removing material.

I could lighten that load Dennis!

Would you recommend the vape unit Mark? I'm curious how much it helps.

I have to probably pull the head off the GT750 and put that massively oversized spare gasket I have in place of the cometic one since it's leaking again... But its cold in the garage and the house needs work. I will probably wait 'til  its good and warm in the spring or summer. Procrastination at its finest.

Is it spark knock, or is it just piston noise? These bikes are loud, especially if they don't have the rubber fin dampeners... even more so if you run Wiseco's.

My snowmobile had plastic bearing cages and those exploded when I blew it up. Looked like crack all over the place. But, that won't be the case here...

I'd double-check that rotary valve Mark. I had a hole in the middle of mine on my sled once. I mean directly in the middle of the plate. Probably explained the weird sputtering the motor did at low revs. Looked like it wore through somehow. Probably had a bearing going out on the rotary shaft and it had too much play. Or, the 2t oil quit for a while to the plate, plate was warped. Who knows.

Wow just saw the thread. That tank! Holy crap. Looks phenomenal now sir!

I almost bought a 78 kz750 in red before the GT came into the picture.
