General Chatter / Custom 2 stroke engine builds
March 14, 2022, 11:10:29 AM
Always intrigued by the custom builds that I have seen on Youtube. Been watching this one Vietnamese guy take engines apart and convert a single cylinder into a twin or triple. One of of my personal favorite was the four stroke engine (honda clone) into a two stroke engine.

Clean build. I would inspect everything. When he built your engine, was it both the top and bottom end? What did he replace?

why? some kaw triples have slingers (referred to as oil shield below)  and can be run on premix if the slinger is removed. my t500 doesnt have the slingers and could be run on premix no problems. if you pull the slinger on cranks that have them...... it will be fine on premix. However, i always prefer the pump when its an option

I remember when a bunch of guys gave you a ration of crap because you made that comment about the t500 being able to run premix.

I could not find them a few years ago when I was looking for my 350, so I bought a super cheap petcock from China for less than $5 and just used the screens from that. They were a pretty tight fit.

That's a parts bike, it will be going. It will be going into that frame.

The 4-Stroke Blasphemy Forum / XS650 Build
February 07, 2022, 10:26:44 AM
Been dealing with only 2 strokes only for years, but now I am working on my first 4 stroke bike. I needed to add a few new tools to my collections to help with my build but it has been going smoothly. Definitely a WIP but  I am hoping to have something that is reliable and solid. Also, who doesn't a kicker with electric start as well?

It's a 1981 XS650 HS2.

Yeah,

I am not that good to start "selling" anything. Plus, I am not in the market to making a buck. Much like a lot of us on the forums, we are trying to keep these bikes alive and running for next several decades.

If you're interested, you should jump on FB (if you have one) to see this guy's designs. He is reproducing things in CAD and printing them in resin for an affordable price. https://www.facebook.com/groups/44878139642/user/1444777116/

they had one at the local shop. also, leave it to honda to make a bike dorkier than the grom.  I agree, price point is spot on and this was a segment that needed an overhaul, they should be all over the place on college campuses and gentrified neighborhood apothecary parking lots soon.

Honda is notorious for making an "ugly and odd" bikes. I know that they will be continue to make the 50cc bikes for those who do not want to get an MC license (depends on the state). This option will give you some more speed and ability to maneuver around the town/city without having cagers all around you. It would be a great avenue for people to be able to ride around and not pay for a POS. I expect that as well.

General Chatter / Honda Navi

Morning everyone,

It seems like its been ages since I've been on the forums.

Have you guys been following the new Honda Navi 110c CVT bikes that are coming (probably out now) out? I have yet to see one in person, but I am tempted to get one just for the price.

A brand new Honda engine/bike that is under 2k is quite remarkable.

Got it. It looks pretty cool. Ive always hated the look of the newer xs tanks. The old ones were fine (same as RD believe).

i'll detail it when i do mine.... i think chuck covered it as well in his hpi install thread.  it is grounded, you remove one and it becomes an ac lead. like said, pictures make it way clearer.

Yeah I wrote it up in my post.

Just make sure you mask off the wire with some electric tape or shrink wrap since it is has exposed solder. Good luck

I used a simple atv rect/reg. You can go either route, it's totally your preference. I just enjoy being able to have a dead battery and still be able to start my bike  with a pull of a wire terminal.

You would need a relay to run with the battery for the ignition switch. Follow the vape diagram. Loos like it. Mine currently has a CB500T tank with a Triumph seat.
