Micro Muscle: Under 100cc's / Yamaha Chappy
November 16, 2022, 02:37:47 PM
Ok, sometimes things just jump into your truck unplanned.  The price was right but now need to figure out what I am going to do with it.  I was told it was an Lb80 but need to go through and find the marks on the engine to confirm.

My question is does anyone know anything about these, if it is the 72cc engine is it really worth salvaging it?  It is missing both engine covers and some other odds and ends, the problem is it seems some of these parts are pretty expensive.

My thought is it may be a better route to just go with a Piranha engine for now, I know its moving to a 4t but it would be a big increase over the original engine and could make this a fun little bike that could at least keep up with local traffic.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Dave

Events / Anyone coming to Mid Ohio this year?
July 11, 2022, 09:55:39 PM
First year going, anyone from the forum racing or coming to watch?  I am just there watching this year but bringing my RD, GT80 and Trailmaster100 to get around on.  May be looking to do a little buy and selling as well, looks like a great event.

Micro Muscle: Under 100cc's / 69 L5T
April 23, 2021, 03:58:20 PM
Figured I'd share a recent clean up project, little 69 L5T.  Bought for a few hundred buck with no seat or tank, turns out the correct ones are super hard to find so I am making due with a similar model tank and seat.  Bunch of clean up work, Paint, wiring, carb and cables and the engine runs great!

Current problem is getting the clutch to function, they have a dual range 3 speed trans that are tough to adjust and the clutch plates were stuck.  I have them broken loose and replaced the clutch gasket but not trying to clean up leaks.  Wanted to avoid Yamabond on the new gasket but it looks like it will be necessary. (even calls for it in the service manual)

General Chatter / RegulatorRectifier.com

Does anyone have any experience with these guys?  They have a kit for the RD and I am curious as I have never heard of them.  Also looking at a kit that would give me a lighting option on a MX100 engine that I am looking to put into my YSR50.

Thanks!

Haus of Projects / Purple R5/RD Project
May 13, 2020, 01:26:46 PM
I've been working on and off on this 1970 R5 for about a year and have been meaning to start a thread.  I've got a bunch of progress steps and some learnings along the way.   Here it was the day I got it.

I follow this up with a bunch of progress but I did want to ask a wiring question, the second image is highlights the RD diagram and the one connection that I cannot track down, it the Female potion that says it is coming from the Hi Beam lamp?  Am I missing something, it does not seem to exist thought the make portion is there from the headlamp.  Is there something different from the RD and R5 for this?  I figured I would ask before I take the headlight on my Rd apart because it is always a pain to get back in.  Thanks!

Turning Wrenches / R5 Fork Spacer length?
November 26, 2019, 12:59:30 PM
I am currently replacing fork seals and adding the Pre-load adjustable caps from Economy.  When I opened them up I found that the previous owner set his preload by adding longer spacers (#18 in the image)  The problem is they are currently too long to be used with the Pre-load adjustable caps as there is no chance that I can compress the spring enough to screw the cap back on.

Does anyone know off hand what the stock spacer length is, and if there would be a better length that i should keep them at to add a little extra stiffness with the adjustable caps?

Thanks

General Chatter / Pipe identification game
September 13, 2019, 03:48:13 PM
:help:  I have come across two separate sets of pipes that are believed to be for AC rd350s but I am not sure.  I checked the identification posts but could not identify, the main thing I am questioning is both sets have one pipe that is angled at the end?  If not for that I would guess early Sepc 2 but I am sure someone on here has more experience.  While there are some differences both sets to look very similar to me...  Can anyone help verify what they fit and make??  Thanks

Turning Wrenches / Has anyone used India spokes?
March 28, 2019, 12:12:16 AM
I know this may seem like a dumb question as Buchanan is such a great company but I have 6 wheels to do and that is a huge savings if I go with the $60 per 100 eBay spokes.  I'll probably just do the one really bad wheel with Buchanan but was curious if anyone has tried the cheap ones?
