Y'all know I'll be around.

But hell, I'm just now seeing this about the Happy Valley side of the parkway!?

Surely us locals can go up Montvale under the parkway and down through Happy Valley, right?

Mine has been doing this for years.  My wiring is good, but I figured maybe I did screw something up, but it's the horn so I wasn't sweating it.
The first time I found out, it was on the gap, exiting a turn, beeping at a buddy shooting photos.. it was like I hit the kill switch cranked over mid turn under power.  Scared the shit out of me.

So I'm glad to hear I'm not alone with this weird issue.

Unless you already know, you may need to shim the RSW brace, so the sliders don't bind up.  The RSW is not adjustable.  I know this has been covered before on here.

When I space fenders off the tire for mocking/mounting, I wrap 3/8"-1/2" fuel line around the top of the tire and tape in on. Then set the fender on it.

You should get that side stand moved before there is nothing left of it

I've made changes since then.  But you're right.

I rode cross country on the pump.  Carried a 5L jug of Motul and refilled it with good oil when I could find it.

Now I beat the hell out of it, still on the pump.

The only time my pump "failed" was when I failed to refill the tank.  Felt the engine start to seize, caught it before any real damage was done, refilled, primed, kept going.  This was in the middle of nowhere outside Cody, Wyoming on the way to Oregon..

Take care of the pump, and it'll take care of you.
After all, it's the most lubricated part of the engine.

If you had a 12" micing bar and a mag base dial indicator, you could probably fashion up a ghetto surface flatness checker and sweep the surface, kind of like the same tool they use to test/cal surface plates.  I'm willing to bet it's not that far off, but there are also different grades of surface plates, so as long as it's accurate enough for what you're measuring.
If you get a piece of that granite and want to check it, clean it first with lanolin hand cleaner and wipe it with a lint free cloth.

If you're lapping, there are plates specifically for lapping, that have a precision ground surface with grooves/channels ground into it to let excess compound and grindings to fall into.

It may not have to be perfectly flat as long as you keep rotating the head and using a figure 8 pattern.
That's assuming he's using it for lapping...

There's nothing about it I don't like.

In fact, the bike has 17" wheels but it's set up correctly to run them.  I guess that's how things go when you have Harris modifying the frame and making the trees/swinger.
Usually when 17's are slapped on an RD the bike sits too low and looks 2' longer.

I love it.

I don't know why I haven't purchased one of these sooner. Checks thread size on both bolts and nuts and only around $25. I'm excited that I can finally measure and organize all my spare stash of metric bolts/ nuts!
If I bought one, I'd cut the cable and put the pieces in a homemade holder.
My buddy has this.  It's great for nuts and bolts, but a PIA for checking something that's mounted, like studs and threaded holes on a motorcycle.

I'll put the word out.
This show is practically right down the road from me.
Who's putting it on?
