Vintage bikes I use the clutch, modern bikes no clutch up and down the box.

its tuning and carb maintenance plain and simple IF the stock system is good shape. relying on 40 year old coils/wires/caps/condensors is not a good idea. they are a service item this far along, change them.

the stock charging system can run a 55w halogen, a car ignition, and a water pump. been there done it. zero issues. Just needs to be set up correctly. even on points bike i can leave plugs in for years.   :twocents:
Spot on advice right there, only addition would be to wring that sumbitch's neck a little more often 😋

Check this Guy out, he offers a service to replace the seal/seat on choke plungers for various bikes including early RD's.

Called a local shop to get the frame powder coated. Was told $250.  Hell yeah, not a bad price. So I'll check that off the list and drop it off with my tax return.

Called a local chrome shop for the fenders.

$350 to $400 a piece... OK goodbye.

I just bought a new RD400 front fender from the dealer for much less , $120 USD
At that price chances are it's gonna be a pattern part, OEM would be closer to $300

I'm getting tired of saying it's not an "RD", the few that know the difference are appreciated !
Well, I guess if that's the biggest problem you have right now you've got it made  :help:

Turning Wrenches / RD350 oil pump pulley shaft nut

All very strange huh, especially as I've since found/attached a 1973 manual (section attached) which lists 7 of each too  :umm:
So using all 14 starting I assume you'd start with a fibre plate which means the last one against the pressure plate would be steel.

I've been reading through topics about RD clutch types after a Buddy in the UK asked me about clutch plate sequence (fibre or steel 1st) so sent him what I'd found in an excellent post by Chuck in his vendor section.
My Buddy has now come back saying a '74 RD350 he's currently working on/looks after for his neighbor has 7 fibre & 7 steel plates (all the same thickness) fitted. He also said it has the later 2 piece boss but no arrow marking on the 6 screw pressure plate none of which seems to fit with any of scenario's in Chuck post.
The clutch was working fine before the motor was strip for a crank rebuild, be great to hear your thoughts Guys, especially Chuck's if he has the time.

Hey, maybe he was trying to replicate a "kinda similar" build he'd seen over on a UK forum but didn't quite get it done 🤣😂🤣

Good decision, you could buy the best one in the world for less than that'd cost to sort it.

The Allspeeds are of a more basic design than Spec2. So I doubt they Will give the same power.
Like a lot of expansions Allspeeds/Gibsons on their own add zero power but do save some weight. Left "as is" all you're buying is looks & noise

Myself, I haven't had any problems with Harley riders. Maybe it's because I have a Dyna too. Most of the older bikers I've met seem to appreciate my rides. In fact, a local HD club is doing a spaghetti feed fund raiser soon and I plan on riding there on a RD.
I do try to avoid conversation with the KTM crowd though. I think they stay up all night remembering the specs on their bikes so they can recite them to anyone on 2 wheels.
You can add BMW (2 or 4 wheel) owners to that  :hifive:
