Turning Wrenches / Re: vapor blasting carbs

Quote from: RustyRD on April 03, 2024, 09:28:41 PMI used a soda blaster from Harbor freight , very gentle on aluminum.

I have  a soda blaster from Princess Auto, the Canadian version of HF, and it works amazing. Just makes a bit of a mess in the driveway when I use it but it is easy to clean up.

I really like the sealed alarm backup batteries. They dont leak and last 7 to 8 years and are cheap.

Quote from: Brad-Man on March 19, 2024, 09:22:16 AMI thought you could get spoked 250's and 400's in Europe...

You are correct, but they are disk hubs.
Never heard of a 400 with rear drum brake.

Thats the second crazy 4 cyl build from New Zealand / Australia. Sidecars must be big down there.

Turning Wrenches / Re: Stator question
March 07, 2024, 10:53:38 PM
Current draw above the rated output killed a stator on my bike. Im sure the part being well over 20 years old didnt help the situation.

I have seen a lot of threads online regarding aftermarket stators either not working at all or failing very fast on multiple bike models.

Have you checked if there is a vape stator available form your motor?

General Chatter / Re: Snowmobile/ Sled 2 strokes

Do those new sleds have a pressed together crank?

I just bought a little fishing boat to take out with my son and it has a 75 two stroke dfi motor that uses compressed air to atomoize the fuel or something. Anyway , it has a 4 stroke type crank and rods and uses split cage roller bearings.
Its not a high tune type motor, but its interesting.Screenshot 2024-03-04 at 18-47-34 Mercury 844338A01 - BEARING KIT Boats.net.png[attach id=20283]Screenshot 2024-03-04 at 18-47-34

Quote from: SoCal250 on March 01, 2024, 08:35:44 PMPut 27 miles on the little ripper today :vroom: Kinda fun going everywhere at 10K+ :burnout:

I remember riding my RZ50 back in the day. Wide open everywhere. Got a bit of a surprise the first time I rode my first RZ350 the same way

Quote from: busa1300 on February 26, 2024, 04:18:34 AMWhat's it worth...
Doubt it will sell for less than $4000, even though it should have a complete rebuild.

Ill stick to my Driveline 421 motor then. Makes almost the same power for much less and parts are easy to get.

No price. What is a motor like that worth, and how much for a full rebuild?

Another vote for Diablo. I got some 74 Decals from them and they were good quality.

I had one of those come loose on my ride home from work and it ate right through the axle adjuster. Probably my fault for not bending the locking tab enough. Blue locktite for me now

Quote from: 2 Stroke Jamoke on February 21, 2024, 08:48:44 PMThose are the same exact pipes I have on mine! I changed the silencers but I was told they are "wolf" pipes

Wolf pipes were from a shop in Toronto that just re-branded other pipes. RZ350 Wolf pipes are FPP's with Wolf stickers on the cans.

Shaft with the sprocket 207mm
shaft that goes through the clutch 221mm
Clutch basket nut is 20mm
#14
If I remember right the RZ/Banshee inner clutch basket nut is 20mm and the RD400 / LC is 18mm.
I have moved around everything in my garage so that I could fit a boat in there as well and Im not sure where my spare RZ trans is at the moment, but Ill take a look for it tomorrow.

Quote from: 85RZwade on February 18, 2024, 12:01:29 PMI stumbled across a facebook page for an outfit called Retrodyne yesterday. He does tuning, engine building and makes pipes. Good looking stuff; maybe he's an option for ya

Guys name is Gary something, and he makes some really good stuff. Mark Morrow is a racer active on a bunch of facebook groups and he runs Retrodyne pipes.
