i have a similar on on my bike. they are quite short but not bad at all.

I recall seeing this over the past winter when I was fixing my bike and it seems like a inexpensive way to get a bike going. In my case get a tank that I could play around with and change the color/look of my RD250 with out sacrificing it's original condition. At an affordable price and as a bonus no rust inside to be treated. :cheerleader:

So Mark did you use the supplied fuel petcock?....if so what do you think of it?

m in sc

no, was too small, didnt flow enough. also, i added a crossover tube near the back. Upside its is a 16mm bung, so a cb450 dual petock threads right on if you wish
otherwise, is ok but took some work to get where i wanted.  at the bull city rumble earlier this year, i saw a guy had the same tank on his t500, seemed a bit small for that, but was OK.

Very Good to know!  8)  I actually haven't gotten one yet but tips like this make it more appealing. Using the CB450 petcock seems a great idea vs. the other idea I had that someone with some welding/fab skills would cut out that existing bung and put in it's place the mounting setup for an RD but that would take a whole lot of work and time even with the skills.

When you think about it if someone needed a tank and wasn't concerned about the original look this is a great alternative. It's hard to find old gas tanks on Ebay that aren't all banged up and need a lot to make right anyways. Not to mention the banged up ones aren't exactly cheap.

I just found this one. It's what they call the cafe racer style.

thats the exact one i have.

put a crossover int he back, should be ok. also, watch the edges, they are sharp on the stamping.

this is a decent shot of it . i da sanded it and cleared it with spray 2kmax clear. the cap is an rd200 cap, modded to fit the chinese tank.

Wowsa looks mean with that raw finish.

I considered a tank like that for my build.  Ultimately, the crossover situation killed it for me.  Didn't want to get quite that deep.

Sure looks nice.

When I spoke to "Smokah", he had one hell of a time modding one of those tanks to his build. He sent me quite a few pics on it. Did you have to mod anything, Mark?
Do not underestimate the power of a two-stroke.

well, mines on a non stock frame so i added mounts front and rear as well.

Danny (27 cycles) built it for me. Chromoly. So, i didnt have to contend with the 2 frame tubes on a stock frame.

same tank on a t500 i saw
