Testing rectifiers

I have three different rectifiers that all read below spec. One has very similar resistance (4 ohms) across the plug and another is different across the plug by an ohm or three. One  fluctuates between 0 ohms and infinite one way and 1 or two ohms the other. My book says spec is 7-9. What say the masters? Are they all junk?

I've got an almost new R5/RD350 modern style rec/regulator I used for 800miles or so. PM me if interested $50 plus shipping. I think they are $100 new.

If you want to do a cheap fix for your rectifier and regulator, check out Mark's thread on the simple Ford conversion one. He was a huge help to me when I had issues with my electrical issue.

I wonder if the modern meters also give false negatives when testing regulators. Anybody tested one that works, but digital meter says is bad? If not, Ill try the one that failed the manual's tests on a bike and see if it actually works.

ypu can check em with a testlight as well. if it works one way then not the other, its good. if it lights both ways, its junk.  fwiw, ive never had a modern meter lie to me on a diode
