Do ya'll consider this to be just a another option for replacing a defective regulator or a improvement to the factory system?
Is the modern FZR rectifier an actual improvement ?

the regulator and rectifier IS suitable, sorry, i was on my phone reading this last night and thought i read 'fzr regualtor'.

I'll be honest, the system I laid out works well , but, i also did this when the solid state units were still relatively expensive.

I still run a ford VR on the 70 r5 with a stock rectifier, been great for 6 years +.    If it ever dies, i'll prob switch to a CB750 solid state or other unit as they are super cheap now. im pretty sure i wrote that print up 10-12 yrs or longer ago.

I used mark's setup to regulate and rectify (windmill setup) my RD350 years ago. It works a treat.

The only difference is that I use the VR730, which comes in the same housing and looks identical. The internals are different, but there isn't much reason to explore that as they both function perfectly the same assuming you can fit it on board.

All of that said, I switched to the HPI unit. So...
