That VIN is for a '74 RD250A. Stock color is Amber Brown

Affectionately known as "Poo Brown"

Well it's fitting as the bike currently is pretty well a pile of poo...

I am confused because my research for my 1974 Yamaha RD 250 A US version paint code search came back as 3469 M2/GLD Gold Dust. Never in my search did I find Amber Brown but this post did come up in a internet search and glad it did. Is their a code sequence to go with the color?

  thanks

I just found the code 00N3 ABW Amberbrown

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi Jim,

the RD250A is Amber Brown
The Yamaha internal code for Amber Brown is 00N3 and abbreviated as ABW
It was the only model in that color in '74.
To achieve the Amber Brown finish, Yamaha applied a Silver Dust (00Y1) base coat, followed by an Amber Brown Candy top coat, and a final coat of clear (0400).

Not sure what source you got the Gold Dust color from, but the only model I see in that color is the '73 CT3 175. That color was not used in '74. Also, Gold Dust has the code 00M2 and abbreviation GLD. "3469" is not a Yamaha color code according to my documents.

Thank you for the confirming information, I did not know about the silver dust base coat.

Internet searches can lead one into many directions.

 Thanks Russ,
