Is it advisable to cover the ignition coil connections with electrical tape since they are directly under the gas tank? Or am I over thinking... :blah:

Not  tape , you could cover them with a squeeze of silicone while they are clean and dry, most people don't bother with anything.
I can't fix stupid , but I can give it a bill !

Yep, Listen to Barre.

I currently have electric tape on mine. But that shit gets old and becomes gross and sticky after awhile.
Do not underestimate the power of a two-stroke.
