8mm im pretty sure (like99%) will work. as long as its the same size or just under the rod diameter. if its 8mm, then 5/16 should work.

kramdua

i measured the push rod and it was 8.67 mm so i am sure 8mm will work.

thanks for the input.
you have to love ace hardware or true value. their hardware and small parts section blows the big chain stores away.

My local Ace is my go-to place. They've got nearly everything! Hillman Fasteners FTW

Usually when I'm in there looking for something I'll end up talking to another customer and it turns out they're also buying motorcycle hardware (although usually for a Harley or adventure bike), or sometimes it's for a hot rod build. Some interesting conversations happen in the hardware section there.

usually the people that work there are friendly and ready to help. i can't make this stuff up. there is an older employee there that is deaf. i couldn't find the drawer that had the ball bearings. he gave me a notepad and i wrote down steel ball. he wrote back what size.
amazing.

local place we had here had reverse thread metrics in stock.    went there for like 15 years. unfortunately, they retired.
