finally dragged the yl1 to the gap meet, been meaning to for 2? yrs. did extremely well for what it was. on relatively flat land can maintain 51mph with me on it in full gear @ 200 lbs. did the hills I 3rd mostly maintaining 40-45 MPH. on rare occasion had to downshift into 2 to get rims up to get in power for 3rd . overall, pretty good. here's a long video coming down off this run. and yes, towards the end I got stuck behind 2 Harleys. on a stock 58 year old 100.

Pretty good.
 They are capable bikes.
 A few weeks ago on a Tiddler ride I was on a 69 YL5 3 speed with hi-lo range.
We were on some pretty serious hills at times. 45-50 on the flats in high gear. Staying in the hi range I was in 2nd gear for most hills at 15-20mph. You really had to keep the rpms up. When you shifted to 3rd it was like being on a 5 speed bike and shifting from 3rd to fifth. The gear ratio spread was crazy.
