After looking online appears they have changed I assumed they jacked up the out of state renews so wouldn't end up with tons of people on their books calling attention to it (pissing off other states). Looks like it will be ending this year or next just VT residents only to get titles.

Has anyone (especially in FL) got a title recently? A few weeks ago John (vmx51) and I were discussing it, he had sent for one they sent check back and refused, I thought at time was because he didn't send enough money (was $60 or so iirc) told him I always did $180 (research seemed to show had to be at least that), now I wonder if they already stopped doing it for FL. After telling him about that high renew they sent me on one he didn't seem interested anymore. Would have been nice to avoid the new on road FL fee, all the other ones I did left VT let buyer decide what they would do.

Vermont DMV says you must include 6% sales tax calculated with the value being good trade in condition listed in NADA and a $48 per year fee.
       NADA good     RD350 =  $1200      RD400  = $3770

Also now , VT does not accept your bill of sale. So if you are applying even for just a frame they take a percentage of the KBB book for a "fair" condition RD. KBB values are off the charts. i just had my application returned , along with a copy of the KBB values

You are correct but it is the NADA Value(also high right now).  You still need to send your bill of sale for proof of purchase but you need to adjust the taxes paid based on NADA values.  While it is a bit high it has been worth it to me as I usually negotiate the cost of getting a title(~$300 total) when buying a non-titled bike.  The really expensive part depending on your state is paying the fee to have a title re-issued when changing the Vermont registration over to your state so you get hit twice.

I'm a little confused.

Trying to title my 1981 RD350 thru VT.

Having a hard time wrapping my head around how much to make the check out for.  Looks like $48 registration fee, but I'm just now reading above about the 6% tax on the NADA/KBB value?

Closest I can find is NADA for 1979 RD400 Daytona Special $1995 and 1984 RZ350L $1510.

So, should I round it up to $2000 and send them 6% of that $120 + $48 = $168?

Help please.

I always like to include a print out of the NADA and pay the taxes on the number.  My advise would be to pick the RZ350 as at least the CCs are the same, print it out and write a note on the print out that you couldn't find the 81 on NADA and the 84 should be closest if not more valuable.  That way they at least have a reference.

I always call them so they call tell me the value, that way I know it's correct. If the amount is incorrect they will send it back unprocessed.

Yep. They have state prison inmates working the phones. They were quite knowledgeable when I spoke with them. They tell you exactly how much to make the check out for. Last one I did took about 10 minutes on the phone and I had the VT tag and registration good for one year in 7 business days. I took that registration to the VA DMV and after verifying that VT is a non title state for vehicles 15 years old or older they issued me a VA title on the spot.

LOL, on hold with VT DMV now.

"Your wait time will be approximately one hundred eleven minutes"  :bang:

... and they're now claiming 4-6 weeks processing time.

I'll have my plate just about the time the rain comes back.

Good thing there are no cops in Portland anymore, and the few we have got more important shit to worry about.

Result!

Based my fee off the BOS as instructed by the helpful guy on the phone.

$150 total, and wait time was less than a month!

So ....

I got my plate on 6.19.  Just the plate and a copy of the paperwork I sent of with a red stamp saying "APPROVED" or whatever.

Now it's almost three weeks later and no proper registration or sticker.

Do I keep waiting, or is there something more I need to do?
