I just sealed a deal on an SRX600, almost perfect with suspension up grades. Pictures soon. Any one familiar with them?..........................D

I have seen the SR 500 but never hear of this one. I did a quick google and this came up. Strange it came up with 2 RDs

I remember the SRX. Looking forward to the pics. Congrats on your new ride  :hifive:

A friend of mine had an SRX "back in the day". Torquey single, light and nimble bike. I like the look too. You'll have a blast.

SRX600 was a cult bike to be sure.

Not many sold here in the states, but popular in Japan and Europe

Bulletproof 600 single, and high-spec cycle parts.

Hard to go wrong if the price is right.

Never had an opportunity to ride one but rode with a couple. No rocket but a great townie and backroad entertainer. You ever kickstart a big four stroke single when hot? It can be a PITA.

Yeah, I used to have a TT500, sonofabitch if you touch the throttle! The seller has an amazing collection of Yamahas that are pristine originals ,or real nice restorations. He's asking $2500 for the SRX which seems more than fair for the condition and mileage (11,000) bike has period upgrades, pipe, suspension, oil cooler. We meet on the 7th. If all is as promised pictures will follow...........................................D

BTW, I'll check out his other offerings as well

I bought a low mile basket case SRX this last summer. It was disassembled for painting and some mild cafe mods....and the po never got any further. It has a Wiseco 635cc hi comp piston, aftermarket pipe, a couple of shabby Supertrapp mufflers, and a pair of Mikuni RS34 flatslide pumpers. So far, I have only fiddled a bit with the carb mounting, as the 34mm flatslides have 70 mm c-c, while the stock "YDIS" carb setup had 65 mm. I plan on having a local bike shop go through the engine, mainly due to lack of time.  And this high version exhaust looks good, but is not cheap.....    http://www.bsm-exhausts.com

so did you get it?
i went for one last year, its a real looker
sweet little town bike, not fast but lots of fun, sounds like a dirt bike
really small and nimble, i fell in love with its looks
the wife won't ride on the back of my other bikes, but she likes the srx

Wow, that is a super nice bike. I can see that one coming home!

hey thank you much Paul, it had been well kept in the previous owners board room but kept in riding condition which is what i saw attractive about it
i made an inquiry about that one you have pictured in your previous post, believe it is in North Dakota, still at the dealership it was delivered to in 1986- i think it has like 30 "roll around" miles on it
but would it be a sin to start it and ride it? (that answer is an opinion)
would it be expensive to make it roadworthy again- i think too much and worried about possibly dry rotted internal rubber parts, tires, brake lines, ya know; all the stuff that makes a $5oo dollar barn find actually cost $1500
i believe that guy was asking $5K for the one you pictured

its another fantastic candidate for a proper motor swap, i always think " a RZ motor would really do the trick on that bike"
i feel the same about the FZR400

paul1478

Yes, you are correct on the location. 5K, not a chance. like you said it would cost you a lot to get it back on the road. I may need to keep an eye out for one. Back in the day, I had a good friend with an SR500 and really liked it, this looks like the next step up.
