Reed Valve question

While replacing OEM reed valves with new YZ125 (55Y-13613-00), the question I have is this: Does the natural arch of the reed get placed in or away from the reed cage?
It looks like the arch gets placed away from the cage to allow a complete seal. If someone could verify. I have had it apart many years ago... so not sure if I reassembled them correctly back then.
