Is it one of those "ABS" modulators that don't really do anything?

Is that similar to the "NASA designed" oil cooler dispstick that was being peddled on ebay a few years ago?

I bought one of those in the 70's and it on my shelf now. There's something in there that compresses somewhat and gives you more brake petal travel and better feel to help with how touchy the 400 rear brake is. Supposed to help with unintentionally locking up the wheel.

They are still common on Chinese scooters and various other cheap bikes.

it is. i know this because when the collection was orginally being split up, that one stood out to me, because of the gus kuhn fuel tank.

They are definitely interesting, curious to see what this one pulls in.

as a side note, he took a bit too much meat out of those forks for my taste.

These bikes have a fairly distinct late 70's-early 80's West coast paint style. When the LA Low Rider era was really thriving. The scheme wouldn't be out of place on a 60's Chevy Impala custom from '79 or a '74 Monte Carlo. You can see a lot of that style in magazines with period custom hot rod shop cars.

My guess is it got painted in Southern California between new and 1985... Same with the other bikes in the group. I remember the Oakland Roadster shows... It looks dated now but back then it was the way.

Would look totally different with modern paint or Kenny Roberts style colors. And lose the 70's FMF blue and gold anodizing...

Those bikes are so odd (ugly) that I love them.  The workmanship is amazing and colors were a sign of the times I guess.  But lots of quality parts and adaptation.

Can't help but love them. Maybe because I still like those 70s color schemes and the need to make it different - push the envelope - make it your own.  Who needs stock or a cookie cutter "brat" or cafe racer.  Be bold. Be different.

Where's my meds?  It's time for my meds.  Why are those guys in white coats looking at me that way? I want to go home....
