Hi guys
So i got the bearings and everything
But, seems as if the upper triple wont seat properly.

Any suggestions?  :umm:

rd400greenhorn

From the button i got
Dust seal
Bearing ( seated All the way down, sound and looks like it at least.

The upper race for the bearing in the button frame seated All the way.

On top, bearing seat also as far as it could go allthough still sticking up a bit from the frame.
Then bearing and Dust seal and Dust cover.

I would guess one of the bearing races is not all the way seated, I use the old bearing race to drive in the new ones.

Tapered bearings need to be tightened up to get them seated, then back the nut off so the steering turn smoothly

rd400greenhorn

Yeah so i think i did that..
Also, believe it looked the same on my first rd400 build, that the upper was sticking out a bit.
Like this one.

It Cant go in Any further.

All balls steering kit.

Thats the way they fit. If I remember correct there was something in the in the included paperwork about it fitting that way.

rd400greenhorn

No just some info if i use a suzuki steering steem 🤔

But so, your uppe triple tree still goes All the way down right? Mine just Cant seat All the way down on the steering stem

rodneya

Nope, My 350 top clamp is a bit different, but it fitted the same.

rd400greenhorn

Well then.. I have put 3 hours in but Guess it just sits like that 😂👌

Thanks guys
I Will continue the work Else where
Steering stem is done 👍

I believe that I will just replace only the lower bearing with tapered on my 400c. That is the one that seems to see the most abuse and it bears the load.
