This dude's high! $12.5K for a bike that's been in storage for years and doesn't run? The last tag on the plate is from '84. And lots of surface rust from being near the beach.

One year only 1979 Yamaha Daytona Special 400 originally SOLD locally from the Yamaha dealer in SLO. I purchase from the original owner. Been in indoor storage for years and currently on NOP. Comes with original contract sales invoice all paperwork owner's manual and keys. It currently he's not running but the engine moves freely. 8,800 original miles gas tank as not rust. Mufflers do have some surface rust and on the motorcycle. Also comes with the very rare matching fairing which was an option. Serious inquiries only.

First owner purchases the Yamaha Daytona RD400 on 9-07-1979.
Purchase price $1,879.04 = 9-07-1979
Lots of service records.
Engine and transmission fully rebuilt at 4,383 miles on 11-15-1980.

i'll never ever understand how the worst performing 400 is the highest priced.   :busey:

I will never understand when people (more in the vintage cars) let you know it is a CA vehicle, so no rust/corrosion?? California is next to a very large body of salt water, and some of the rustiest, most corroded vehicles I have ever seen are from CA. Mark, I agree, the lowest performance rd400, thats why i pulled my Daytona engine for a rebuild, and put in a moderately tweaked 400 just to ride. Will get orig engine rebuilt at some point.
