Crazy news today in the rider market for next year.
Martin got snubbed AGAIN by Ducati who have chosen Marquez for the factory team. (They seem to be looking short term since Marc probably doesn't have many years left in front of him.)
Martin has signed with Aprilia, replacing Espargaro.
Espargaro, who is retiring at the end of the season, has signed with Honda as a test rider. (He's got a hell of a tough job in front of him. HRC is a disaster.)
Acosta is being moved up from GasGas to the factory KTM team, joining Binder. That will mean that Miller will be shuffled down to the Gas Gas team or be forced to look elsewhere. I'd guess they'll keep him for his valued technical input.

Bastianini is moving to KTM next season.
Binder & Acosta have the two seats for the Red Bull Factory team, but the latest news is that KTM will have 4 factory RC16s on the grid next year, so the satellite team will be nearly the same as the factory team.

Vinales is leaving Aprilia at the end of the season and joining Bastianini in the Tech3 KTM team. That leaves Miller without a seat for 2025.

MV Agusta may also be returning to MotoGP in 2027. It is owned by Pierer Mobility, which also owns KTM and GasGas.

It sounds like Bezzecchi is moving over from VR46 Ducati to Aprilia to fill the other seat which was left empty by Maverick's departure.

Big news on the manufacturer front today! Pramac is switching from Ducati to Yamaha in a new 7-year deal. The team will serve as a Yamaha satellite team but run factory-spec bikes in a similar manner to how it operated under Ducati.

A. Marquez signed a 2-yr deal to stay at Gresini Ducati. No word yet on who will take MM93's old seat.

There are rumors that the Kazakhstan GP that was moved to September to replace the Indian GP will be cancelled. To fill the date Dorna is considering a 2nd visit to Qatar that weekend. It's going to be HOT! Average Sept temps are 103/85F (39/29C). There's a reason the Lusail round normally takes place in March.

It's official, the Kazakhstan GP has been cancelled because the track operator couldn't get its act together. A 2nd round will be held in Misano in its place. Dorna chose not to hold a 2nd round at Qatar due to extreme heat and because the track and Dorna could not agree on financial terms.

Dorna is not having very good luck expanding the schedule and adding new circuits. This is the 3rd track to be dropped from the schedule this year. I wish they would just add another US round.

Raul Fernandez signed a 2-yr extension to stay with Trackhouse Aprilia through 2026.

There are about 9 seats left without confirmed riders for 2025. :popcorn2:

Wow, that big news. There have been a lot of complaints recently about the stewards, especially about inconsistent decisions.
It's going to be a big loss for the broadcast team. I love Simon in the booth and on pit lane because he's super technical, extremely knowledgeable, and eagle-eyed. He is so much better than the guys who have preceded him in the role. I'm really going to miss hearing from him each round.

Hey Russ, I heard Oliveira was going to Pramac, have you heard confirmation of that? Who's getting the second Pramac bike? Who's going to Trackhouse behind Miguel's departure? Morbidelli going to VR46 or WSBK? What about everyone's 3rd favorite Aussie, JM43? Is this the craziest silly season ever? Definitely the craziest that I can remember!

SoCal250

There are rumors that Oliveira may go to Pramac but nothing confirmed yet. Those other seats and rider are all up in the air right now.
I'd love to have Miller slot in with Miguel at Pramac. I met Jack a couple years ago and he's a super cool guy. Ever since then I've been pulling for him more than I did in the past. Besides being a good guy he's got lots of determination and experience.

Quote from: SoCal250 on May 28, 2024, 03:40:00 PMThe India round scheduled for Sept 22 had been cancelled for 2024. Apparently the organizer still owes Dorna money for last year's race and the two have been going at each other this season. The Buddh track is tentatively slotted in as the opening round for the 2025 season, but with the current situation between Dorna and the circuit organizer I would guess that we haven't heard the end of the scheduling drama.
Dorna has signed a new 3-yr deal for the India GP for the 2025-27 seasons, this time directly with the state government of the region instead of the previous promotor Fairstreet Sports. The Buddh round is tentatively scheduled for late March as Round 2, following the Qatar opener.
