1979 Yamaha RD400 Daytona
Good looking Daytona.
Repaint by the previous owner.
Parts added by me.
HIGGSPEED expansion chambers
Dyna S electronic ignition
New coils
Bar-end mirrors

The MC needs repair work done (non-running)
2 years ago, the engine tached out on me,
I shipped it to HVCcycle for repair.
They found the LH crank seal was bad,
They replaced all seals and bearings and balanced the crankshaft
Got it back and the MC ran great pulled hard in every gear.
Then in July of this year the bike tached out on me again.
Have no idea why it happened again, HVCcycle did tell me it was under warranty until September. But. I declined because of shipping costs. It's a sweet looking Daytona but does need a professional mechanic to sort it out. Also, I have the stock pipes that came with the bike included in the sale.

I dunno, what does "tached out" mean? Sounds like he might have an air leak somewhere causing extreme lean condition and throttle unexpectedly going WFO until it seizes? Wonder what he did for jetting when he added those pipes?  :umm:

That was my thought, it sounds like that engine would be a mystery grab bag. You don't know whether it just presented an air leak, or if the dude rode it till it blew up in catastrophic glory. Could be a couple hundred bucks to fix or a couple thousand. From the description it's quite obvious the seller isn't too mechanically inclined.

Funny thing about those pipes is that the manufacturer states "no rejetting required", "PIPES ARE DESIGNED TO RUN ON STANDARD JETS".
