So, while I've set up carbs with existing powerjets I've never added a set to an existing setup. my 72 t500 is still running stock bodied carbs (vm32s). they are an odd vm, unique to the t500.
i had tgis set of powerjet kits (genuine mikuni) for years.  i was going to add them to the rd before i put on the tms.

the t500 had a slight carburation issue right as it hit the powerband, 4200 ish. what these are supposed to do is just add another circuit but also reduce the main size. directions state to 'reduce main by 25%, then use that number to set the power jet size'

this would set the main down to a 90, and the powerjet to a 30.

by leaning the main out this should clear up the midrange and add fuel back up top.

in theory, seemed right.  in reality, the delay of the hit was really bad. i kept up sizing the powerjet up until it was pretty decent (120). but depending what rpm you were at there was still a possible delay, and up top sustained was too rich.

so what i ended up landing on was down 2 sizes on the main,  and a 35 power jet.

this still had it safe on the main alone up to 3/4~7/8 throttle.  very crisp. i can go wide open at 2k and it just climbs right up smooth, the . the powerjet brought it the rest of the way up to the rev limiter nice and clean.

im sure this would be different on a reed motor but like said, new to me adding one.  luckily i had a spare set of carbs to work with.

And they make the carbs look good.

3D printing an intake boot for it in the future or are the carbs already too heavy?

i have  boot for it, the stock one fits. however it runs better w the large k&ns. they support the carbs, i made a bracket  . t500 carbs are the heaviest fucking carbs ever. eventually its getting a set of reeded cyls and 38's but i have a lot of machine work to do so its way down the road.

i still have the other carb setup in a box (sans powerjets). Just in case.
