I got tired of buying gas caps trying to fix this fuel slosh issue. The ZETA cap I put on the Gray Ghost that fixed the issue is unobtaimum. I have searched everywhere. Tried to contact ZETA directly in Japan. They don't reply.
In desperation I shelled out $90 for a factory Yamaha cap. Same results if you fill it too full (within an inch of the top) it pukes gas out of the key hole.
So I decided to modify one of my Chinese caps.

5/16 drill bit and the lock cylinder came right out.

A piece of 3/8 fuel line is a perfect friction fit and the same $5 vent valve I put on the Gray Ghost fits perfectly inside the 3/8 hose. Pressure tested no leaks.

If you see venting issues, this might help - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCLOyI5Jc94

I had Chinese cap and had to switch back to used on off Ebay. Ken did a good explanation this one.

I wasn't having a venting issue. I was having a fuel spillage issue. Both of my tanks also had the no lead nozzle baffle or whatever its called removed before I got them. I have no idea if that is a contributing factor.

There is an unleaded nozzle baffle in mine and it still drools gas out if you fill it to what I call normal full.

Yeah, it has been a never-ending annoyance for me. The ZETA cap solved it on the Gray Ghost. I can fill it up completely and no leaks. I am trying to find another one. I am emailing with web bike in Japan to see if they can come up with an answer. My homemade solution cost about $20 total. I am going to test ride it here in a few.

tim, you have a spare unmolested cap? if so, send it to me let me see if i can figure it out. mine never had this issue and i didn't have the baffle either. but i do rememberhaveingvtovrework mine because of a fucked up lock latch situation

Kawtriplefreak

I will send you the brand new Yamaha cap. Thanks Mark. The modded cap is working well.

2steve

:pop: I'm watching with interest, guys.
Thank you for pursuing.

Test ride after a full fillup complete. No leaks after vigorous acceleration and hard braking. Vent is also working well. I saw a hint of moisture where the hose goes through the cap when I got back to the shop so I sealed it with case sealant.

Mine waits until it's parked and on the center stand. Then the engine heat does some magical expansion to the gasoline but waits till after I leave.

Side stand might make things better.

truth is they should bever be filled up past 1" below the filler line. the fuel will heat up and expand. even my modern bikes do that but they have enclosed caps and an internal vent drain that goes to the evap system (if its still on there)
