So, I'm going to put a Banshee top end on the YammaGamma.  Looked on eBay and found some for crazy low prices.  Original prices were in line with what I expected, but the sale prices are crazy.  Does anyone have experience with them?

are a couple of them.  Search I used was, 'Cylinder Head Piston Gasket Top End Kit for Yamaha Banshee 350'.

TDR lists a kit:

that is more in line with what I expected a kit to cost, but isn't the stock 350cc, which I was leaning towards.

Any input would be appreciated.

The banshee HQ forum has a full and complete review of the cheap Chinese cylinder kits.

They are a waste of your money.

The original kit they received had poorly cast pistons and the bore was not straight.  No problem right?  Just pay for a quick bore and use Japanese pistons?

HAHAHAHAHA!  Jokes on you.  The cylinder liners are of such poor quality they have bubbles and pockets in the steel.  When you bore them you end up with a porous liner.  aka they become garbage.

I can see why people buy them.  Under $200 for a complete kit compared to many hundreds seems like a worthwhile proposition.

They are garbage.

If you want to go cheap, buy a set of used OEM ones on eBay, grab some pistons from Cruzinimage on ebay and go at it.

Thanks for the input.  I figured they were crap, but the listings with the original cost at ~$1000 caught my eye.  Even then I figured it was ruse to get you to look at the listing.

That being said.  Who makes a good kit?  I came across one for about $650 that mentioned not voiding warranties and had Wiseco pistons if I remember correctly, but I can't find it again.  Darn computer rebooted and I can't find it in the history.  Or maybe they pulled the listing.  I know Economy and TDR have the 392cc Athena kits but I'm looking for a stock 350cc kit.

Personally I would grab a pair of used OEM barrels off eBay.  You may get really lucky and only need a hone but likely a bore.  You are looking at a couple hundred, 100 and change for pistons (again, cruzinimage on ebay has good/cheap OEM style pistons) and same for a bore.  Ends up a lot cheaper than a replacement new top end.

The aftermarket cheetah/athena etc barrels are not generally seen as worthwhile to run as they come and require porting.  You will end up a lot deeper by the time you get though that.

Id stay away from the Athena kits.

If you are ditching the power valve RZ setup for banshee stuff you will need at minimum porting or you will be disappointed.
If you want something bigger look into the serval kits. Cubs and Cheetas are more for drag racing.
I am leaning towards a 4mm 421cc Serval Wampus that looks identical to stock and is nicasil plated.

Look up Driveline Performance we make banshee cylinders and can help you figure out what topend might best suit you.
