Watched it last night after they figured out their technical problems.

I'd think it could if the spark returned after the silencer and chamber filled with unburned fuel.  When I was in high school, admittedly years ago, I'd switch the ignition off on my car while rolling down the road; turning it back on gave a loud backfire.  One of those opened the muffler along the weld seam.

Must be Honda clutch plates, 2 strokes don't have high lift cam lobes like the ones pictured.

General Chatter / Re: Your worst crash

My worst crash was my only.  I have a food allergy to sesame seeds and sesame oil.  It used to just cause itching.  July 31, 2003 I took a frozen entree for lunch that has less than 2% sesame oil.  Started itching, didn't have any benadryl, so I rode home for some.  The reaction went anaphylactic and my vision went from 20/15 to gone on the interstate.  I brailled my way to the shoulder but didn't see the abandoned car that I hit at 60 mph per the witnesses.  I totalled the bike and the car I hit; I was treated, released from hospital and back to work in three hours.  Injuries were a skinned knee, scraped shoulder and sprained thumb.  God wasn't done with me yet...

When I restored my BMW R100RS, I rubbed Dawn dishwashing detergent on parts and ran them through the dishwasher.  They came out a lot cleaner, but the foam went everywhere, even pushed it's way past the door seal during the wash cycle...

Everything is built up a lot more now, but there are some good roads around Lake Worth and some decent ones between FtW and Aledo / Weatherford.

Welcome from another Ft. Worth resident!  I'm in WedgHood and I'm resto-modding a '74 RD350.

General Chatter / Re: Seeking New Rider Advice
October 17, 2021, 08:13:00 AM
My father's best friend started riding on Harleys and Indians in the late 1920s, and he taught me to ride in the mid '60s.  After the basics on mastering clutch, brake, gas and the tire friction circle, he passed on wisdom that has worked for 54 years on motorcycles:

1.  Assume you're invisible, because to a lot of drivers, you are.
2.  If they could see you, they'd be out to get you.  And in 1967, a lot of them kinda were...

In 54 years, I've only been down twice.  Thanks, Edwin...

Some cities have a non-pursuit policy with motorcycles since lots of them are too fast to be caught, anyway...

In addition to the RD350 I'm rebuilding, I have an '84 BMW R100RS that I bought new.  When i crashed it years ago, I rebuilt it as I wished, non-stock paint and striping in my school colors, aftermarket exhaust, instruments, engine internals etc.  It's my bike...  I've been lectured about the changes and the fact that it's still my daily driver (303K miles so far).  I tell the critics that it's not a museum piece because I can't afford to build a museum, and besides, it's too much fun to ride...

Back in the day, higher output coils were the solution to the chronic plug fouling.

I'm living proof that one can walk away from a vicious crash.  On July 31, 2003, I totalled my bike and the car I hit; was treated for a skinned knee, scraped shoulder and a sprained thumb, and back to work in 3 1/2 hours.

FWIW, bike was an '84 BMW, bought it back from insurance, rebuilt and restored it.  It now has 302K miles on it.
