RD400 rear rotor options

Is there a different rear brake rotor option for a RD400?
Offset is not important as I do not plan on running a stock caliper setup

thinner? xs400 or daytona style single piece rotor. unless you want to go smaller, then there's all sorts of options if you can fabricate. danny ran some dirtbike on on his bike, made a different hat for it

Yes, thinner and preferably smaller and drilled or slotted. But Trying to get a one off part fabricated around here is not easy, so preferably something read made

And check out their rear caliper with integrated bracket.  About as light as it can possibly be.

You can find specs on that site and cross ref other rotors. I believe front and rear are the same on daytona but not sure about the regular rd400.

they are the same as well.

at -some- point i plan on making a hat and using a smaller rotor & caliper on the rd for the rear.

Good plan :)  I would think 200 mm diameter and 4 mm think should be more than sufficient.
If I was looking for a used setup, something from a 125 cc sportbike would be at the top of the list. Aprilia 125, Italian built Yamaha models, Cagiva Mito,  etc.

i might use a stock front grom rotor. dirt cheap.

I tried to find the inside diameter of a grom rotor and what I could find it seemed to small .
Also need a rotor with 3 or 6 holes to fit nicely if you make a hat to suite the 6 stock holes.

Newer RS rotors are 3 hole and 210mm diameter so should work with a small Brembo caliper.

Is there really any difference if the caliper is on top or underneath if its connected to the swingarm?
Im thinking to put it underneath and use a torque arm to the stock connector under the swingarm.

oh I'd make a hat. under is technically better, lower center of gravity.
