Title: Sport Tractor Joins the Fleet
Post by: msr on June 17, 2022, 10:51:53 AM
I've had this Moto Guzzi V85TT Travel on order since December, and it finally arrived earlier this week! It's a fun thing and VERY different from any other bike I've had. Stoked to run this thing around this weekend.

That is nice and love the colors! What's it like to ride?

Thanks! It's really pretty comfortable and easy to ride. It's designed for longer trips which is how I hope to use it. It 'chops' at idle and pulls to the right when you rev it at a standstill. Other things that are different for me - it has a dry clutch that seems to like a bit more RPM off a stop than other bikes I have, and the transmission is smooth but loud shifting. So far I only have about 45 miles on it, so I'm sure I'll discover more weirdness as I go.

Overall, I really like it.

When I was younger, there were a lot of Guzzis, Laverdas and air cooled Ducatis like the Pantah around. Everybody jokingly called them spaghetti harvesters.

Yay finally!

Once you get the feel, you may find that the fuel map is funky, mainly to satisfy the Euro 5 specs.

Todd over at GuzziTech has the answers....it's not cheap to remap but I hear totally worth it.   I'm only at 50 miles or so, but saving some side cash...

I have found the throttle to be twitchy between 3000 and 4000 RPMs. I've mostly attributed that to be the ride-by-wire being more sensitive than a mechanical throttle? I may be making that up, though, and I've seen others talking about remapping making a difference. Still others ride in rain mode much of the time and are happy with that. I'll figure it out.

I've put about 180 miles on it since last week, and at this point the only thing I NEED to change is the windscreen. It's directing the turbulence directly to just above the visor of my helmet, and it's enough to blur my vision at higher speeds.
