General Chatter / Re: Seat cover tips?

I suck at it so I have a shop do it (I provide the cover). My guy usually sews a wire into the edge of the cover so he can stretch it more without damage. Sometimes he has to build up the foam. Usually around $100-130 depending what he has to do. Always comes back perfect though.

Yea, I ordered the Yamaha part number but they just sent screw type clamps which I suspect are substitutions for the original. That's why I'm trying to see what the original ones looked like.

General Chatter / RD400 hose clamps
May 27, 2020, 12:39:26 AM
I am looking for the original style clamps for the rear brake cylinder to reservoir hose. So far I am unable to find a picture. Does anyone have a pic or know what type of clamps were used?
I am fixing the brakes and am trying to do resto style in case I decide to restore this bike.
Thanks!

Handlebar switches were wrecked. Decided to get some reproduction switches to move things along. $75 for the pair off eBay. Look pretty close. The sticker color/font is off. (I will fix the stock ones eventually). Hopefully these work.

First problem. On the right side the throttle tube was binding. I eventually figured out why. See last pic

IMHO the 75 250s were the best looking of the bunch.

I agree. My favorite color scheme. I have one packed away that's on the to-do list

Fuse box was garbage. Ordered a replacement from economy cycle. Now have spark and dash lights. Ignition switch is iffy. I have a spare but I need to get a key for it. All the other switches are frozen so dealing with that next....

Still waiting on some brake parts.

One of the pilots is frozen in a carb and someone previously mangled it. That will be fun.

Thx. It's looks awesome in the sunlight. Pics don't really show the metallic. It was a lot of work though. I've been meaning to take it around to the auto paint store and show those guys since they kept telling me "you can't do candy paint with spray cans" lol

Obviously I repainted the tank. Candy red, major pita
